I recently provided the Troy 30-C Board of Education a complete analysis of the 2009 TerraNova and InView assessment results. The entire 107 page analysis can be downloaded by clicking here. Overall, the results of this assessment cycle show a positive trend with the greatest majority of the results increasing. However, as part of our continuous improvement strategic plan goal, we continue to seek opportunities to improve student achievement.
These test results provide a valuable resource for us to use as we consider future strategies and improvements to how we work with students. With this in mind, here is a summary of the 2009 TerraNova and InView results:
General Overview
- 86% (31 of 36) of the InView Anticipated vs. Obtained Scores increased.
- 80% (32 of 40) of the InView Median National Percentile results increased.
- 77.3% (28 of 38) of the Median National Percentile scores increased.
- 100% (40 of 40) of the Mean Scale Scores increased.
- The difference between the Local vs. National Objective Performance Indicators increased for 68% (94 of 139) of the measures in this assessment.
Areas to Celebrate
- General
- The combined percent of students in the 3rd (51 to 75) and 4th (76-99) quartiles increased.
- The percent of students in the 4th quartile increased in many areas.
- The Objective Performance Index was within the anticipated range for all areas measured.

Areas for Improvement and/or Investigation
- 8 data points where the InView median national percentile decreased.
- 10 data points where the median national percentile decreased.
- 28 Objective Performance Index (OPI) scores where the local vs. national performance indicators increased.
- The combined percent of students in the first (1-25) and second (26-50) still exceeds 50% for many areas.
- While the percent of students in the fourth quartile increased in many areas, the percent is still below the national norm (25%) in most areas.
